The Project…

PREPARING INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE, COMPASSIONATE

AND LOVING END OF LIFE CARE.

In 2021 I lost my grandmother after a long and arduous battle with dementia. The years preceding her death were filled with heartfelt efforts to help her and sincere gestures of love, as well as moments of being overwhelmed and under prepared for the monumental task that was her care.

When she left this life, I reflected on the litany of missteps and mistakes I made.

My educations in end of life care, hospice and Thanatology all failed to prepare me for the challenges of caring for a loved one. That self-evaluation is what prompted me to start The June Bug Project. So that from my experience and the experiences of others, our firsthand knowledge would not be left un-utilized.

The June Bug Project taps in to peoples’ experience caring for loved ones, so that we may share those stories.

The good. The bad. The truth.

We tell these stories from the perspective of the individual who is dying, using information gathered from others present. The end of life experience influences those surrounding it, but ultimately it belongs to the individual who is leaving this life.
